Universal H/I Beam for Building Construction
H-beam is a kind of high efficient profile with economic cross-section which is more optimized in cross-section area distribution and more reasonable in strength-to-weight ratio, and is named because its cross-section is the same as the letter "H" in English. Since all parts of H-beam are arranged at right angles, H-beam has the advantages of strong bending resistance in all directions, simple construction, cost saving and light weight structure, etc., and has been widely used.
The inner and outer flange of H-beam is parallel or close to parallel, and the end of flange is at right angle, so it is named parallel flange I-beam.The thickness of web of H-beam is smaller than that of ordinary I-beam with the same height of the web, and the width of flange is larger than that of ordinary I-beam with the same height of the web, so it is also named wide flange I-beam. Determined by the shape, the section modulus, moment of inertia and corresponding strength of H-beam are significantly better than the same single-weight ordinary I-beam. Used in different requirements of the metal structure, whether it is to withstand bending moment, pressure load, eccentric load shows its superior performance, can be compared with the ordinary I-beam greatly improve the load-bearing capacity, saving metal 10% ~ 40%.
H-beam has wide flange, thin web, many specifications and flexible use, which can save 15%~20% of metal in various truss structures. Because of its wing edge inside and outside parallel, edge end is right angle, easy to assemble and combine into various components, thus can save welding, riveting workload of about 25%, can greatly speed up the construction of the project, shorten the construction period.
